Summary
Tripp Lyons serves as a Board Member and Director of Recruitment at Judy’s League. He works with prospective volunteers to welcome them, get to know them, and assign them committees and responsibilities. In addition, Tripp advises the Board of Directors on recruitment strategy, social media marketing, and advocacy efforts.
A recent graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut, Tripp founded and co-led Fairfield’s inaugural disability awareness organization, creating initiatives and programs that educated the community on accessibility barriers. Tripp co-created an original barrier-focused disability simulation, a revolutionary awareness tool that invites participants to experience social and institutional barriers to equity for disabled people, such as unintentionally harmful comments, the lack of inclusive design in classrooms and other campus spaces, and outright discrimination and refusal to accommodate disabled people. Tripp is currently working at the New England ADA Center, and plans to eventually attend law school to become a disability justice education attorney. Tripp joined Judy’s League to defend the legacy of Judy Heumann, and all the rights she and her allies secured for the disability community.
